Dawn Lands LARP: Pirates Plunder

April 25th - 27th, 2025


Following a devastating civil war, the Imperial Reman Republic outlawed the trade of slaves, restricting slavery to punishment for severe crimes. However, this policy has begun to erode since the Republic allied with the Tiss, a people whose economy thrives on the trade of weapons, slaves, and other profitable commodities.


In the peace that followed the civil war, it was agreed that only criminals could be made indentured servants, and only until they repaid their debt to society and those they wronged. They are often referred to simply as 'criminals.'


Recently, this has begun to subtly change, a shift attributed to the growing influence of Asmodeus, the god worshipped by the Tiss. Asmodean followers have gained significant power within the Senate, subtly manipulating legislation to ease restrictions and push for new laws. Consequently, it is now much easier to be labeled a criminal, and therefore, to become an indentured servant.


Furthermore, disturbing rumors circulate that even the Dark Lord Vortex, a malevolent deity of immense power, has begun to find favor among the noble class of the Republic. The allure of power and influence, often promised by Vortex, seems to have swayed some of the most influential figures in Reman society.


Recently many of the priests and priestesses of the Reman deity Pluto have been found dead in their temples and near their shrines. The few that survive have told a tale of the Dark Lord Vortex and the manipulative master of contracts and laws Asmodeus joined forces and slew Pluto. They divided up his power amongst themselves but his minions have been released and his treasure remains hidden. Three of Pluto’s minions, now free to roam unchecked, travel the countryside and small towns looking for riches, victims, and games of chance.


Adding to the growing unrest, unsettling rumors have begun to circulate amongst the populace of Aquitania. Whispers of an otherworldly entity lurking near the shore have gripped the town, fueled by the recent disappearances of several citizens. Fear and uncertainty have begun to permeate the streets, adding another layer of unease to the already turbulent times.


Until recently, both the pirates and Vikings were valuable assets to the Reman Empire, serving as mercenaries and privateers. However, the alliance with the Tiss has rendered their services largely redundant. This shift has left many out of work, including Ursegor, a renowned Pirate Lord and Admiral. Faced with dwindling opportunities, Ursegor has decided to seek alternative avenues for profit, likely turning to piracy and raiding to maintain his power and influence.


The Norseman, Thesis Ironhair, has set up a large encampment just outside of Aquitania. Some say for the purposes of some day raiding or attacking the town, some say as a step in negotiating. Whatever the case may be his presence, and that of his allies, is very disturbing to the locals and their economy.


This insidious combination of external influence and internal corruption threatens to undermine the very foundations of the Republic, turning it into a shadow of its former self.


Meanwhile, Aryellas Darkbloom, a legendary pirate captain and former ally of Ursegor, has fallen into a state of despair following the death of her traveling companion King Volstagg. Grief-stricken and reckless, she has returned to her piratical ways, sailing the seas with her friend and former traveling companion, Admiral Ursag. Aryellas is known to be gathering information about the unsettling changes within the Reman Republic, particularly the growing influence of Asmodeus.


Adding a further layer of complexity, the elf freedom fighters, led by the charismatic Vexy Oakthorn and the cunning Bunny of the Woods, are actively resisting the growing influence of the Tiss and the encroaching shadow of slavery. They are organizing resistance movements within the Dawn Lands, seeking to liberate those enslaved and topple those who would seek to enslave others.


These events unfold against the backdrop of Aquitania, a small but growing trade town nestled between the Alliance of Dawn Lords and the Imperial Reman Republic. This bustling port city is now caught in the crossfire of these shifting power dynamics.
